Okay, sorry...didn't get that. Anyway, a lot of people have asked me to make a tutorial but I really don't know that my style of sculpting would be helpful. The reason I say that is mainly because i don't use any tools except sometimes a toothpick. I also don't plan and measure my ponies and clay before I start. I have seen a couple of picture tutorials the describe measuring out amounts for 2 ears and cutting that in half and then making the general shape of the body and cooking it and then adding pieces onto it to smooth it out and then sand it. It seems that i don't make my ponies like most people do. I just make the wire armature and then add an approximate amount of clay to make a back leg and shape it exactly like I want it to look in the end and then the other leg and move forward. The ears are the last thing and again, as I add each piece i shape and smooth it while the clay is soft to exactly how I want it to look so there is no sanding. Once the whole body is done I will cook it and then add the hair afterwards. It seems I am the only one who does it this way.
Well, he provided me with an image of Fluttershy in that pose I made and asked for Luna in to be like the picture. I assumed he just meant the pose but he meant everything and FS had her eyes closed in the picture. He was still happy with the piece and doesn't blame me for giving her eyes.
Thanks. I actually think I might only do Luna's from now on as commissions (I might do a baby bottle Luna). Not sure yet. I say that because even though some of us still think they are really good, I think people may be getting tired of them. I just say that because my last "normal" Luna's haven't received as big of a response as they used to. This Luna here is just over 400 views, which is really low!!!! I think it's just that I have done so many that people are just like ...."Meh...another Luna."
Well it could be that Luna has her own toy now. Allot of folks don't have the spending power some collectors do. So it's to Target, or Walmart for the Luna they want. The white Celestia is also out, so you may see diminished traffic in those too..... Me? I want unique and personal pieces...... That's how you (and a few other fine artists) play into the picture! Never think your talent has become MEH! Yes they do cost---BUT!----I've been getting what I pay for!
You could be right, but I would still think people would at least look at a picture even if they don't intend on buying it. I have actually noticed it will all of my ponies over the last 3 or 4 months...they just don't get the views they used to in general. There are so many people sculpting ponies these days that DA is just getting flooded with them. I think most people at first were excited to see a pony made into sculpture but now it is an every day thing so they aren't as eager to look unless it is really bright or "over the top".
