Thanks...for both!!! I agree...I need a new camera myself. The battery door won't stay closed..I have to tape it and then I dropped it yesterday and the lens popped halfway out of the casing and I crammed it back inside and it actually still worked!! I was really , really surprised! So yeah, I can wait because i want as much detail of you as i can get
YAAL! (Yet another awesome Luna) (Sorry I've been going trough my old program archives and "yet another*" for some reason was really popular a decade back. XP)
Interesting color setup though... it has a a nice look but for some reason it just feels a bit strange... I think what it might be is that the grayer look makes her feel a lot older, I just can't shake the feel of "Future Luna".
You know, it's funny that you would pick that out. It was the first thing I picked up on as well. The commissioner provided me with a picture of Luna in this basic pose but leaning forwards more as if she was flying. I asked him if he wanted her flying because it would require a visible post so we decided on the same basic pose but rearing. In that picture, however, was Luna with the darker blue mane that was outlined by the light silver lavended/blue mane. I think it is just one of those cases where the artist knows what colors she is but draws her the way they think would be most complimentary or something. I just say that because if you search Luna you will see many whee the mane and tail color isn't right. It does seem strange to me but i have to admit....that light outline stands out in a picture format better than the other colors!
That makes sense, though you know to totally geek out for a moment; What would be really cool is if you did a flying posed pony but used a magmatic core and base system like they do on the levitating tops, so that you could actually do a real no stand flying sculptor. The only major down side would be having keep it in a protective case to keep kids from knocking it out of the magnetic field. XP
I can't say much myself The... 4 times I've drawn Luna she's had a different hair type/color setup every time. XP Really I have nothing against re-imagination of characters, truth be told it can be pretty exciting to see many styles and variants of a single character.
That would be pretty awesome! I think it would be really difficult to center the magnet perfectly to get her to fly straight without leaning but it would be awesome to do!!! Now that would be a sculpture that would sell really well i bet...no matter what color hair she had!!!
Another geeky idea I just had is you remember those old 3D light projector boxes? Where you could put an object in the base and it would project a fully 3D Projection of it above it? That could also be a cool way to handle a stand-less flying sculpture, than you wouldn't have to worry about damage or magnetic centering as much. Only down side is than you are drawing power instead of being powerless... Though I wonder if you could get/make one of those boxes now days using White light LEDs...
Well... I don't think Rarity would agree; She seemed pretty against green hair. XP
I actually looked into those magnetic levitation setups and the biggest problem is that I would have to get some incredibly strong magnets because i guess those top setups only levitate about 12 grams!!!
I'd wager you could pull it off given the size of your stuff to weight to ability of neodymium magnets it would just be tricky to keep things alighted right... and it would probably not be very safe in reality... for a large number of reasons... XD
You could also pull it off using electromagnets... Though besides pricy that would also be pretty darn dangerous to have as a display object...
In the end I guess for many a safety reason it would probably not be a good idea to actually do with anything of any real size... Which is probably why we only see light weight tops as child toys as the only main stream use for it.
yeah, it would be a lot of work trying to get the balance of both magnets to work in addition to the weight restrictions without using really powerful magnets. i'll let someone else try it first but it would be awesome to see!
