Princess Luna ... All Hail !!! by MadPonyScientist Princess Luna ... All Hail !!! by MadPonyScientist
She is on EBAY here : [link]

I just wanted to show myself that I can still make a pretty decent Luna if I want. I spent a bunch more time on her fine tuning her shoes and all...

I hope you like her. She is 7.5 inches tall and 10.5 inches long.

Very cute. If only it was possible to make it so her mane and tail were actually billowing sparkly clouds of smoke. :3

Btw, what happened with that Gamer Luna and Woona double statue?

Well, I guess it was fixable without really showing damage to Luna and Woona was okay but I am still fighting with the post office to get them to pay for repairs. The insurance from the post office is very difficult to get them to pay!!!!

WOW JUST WOW! I think the stand is just right (it gives balance to the piece in both physical form and view )

Thank you :) Yeah. I thought that too! Glad you like it. I am sorry to say that I completely forgot your Luna was a rearing Luna so maybe i should do a different pose for her...

I gave you the freedom to do as you wish! If you care for a suggestion -- Wings out, three hooves on the ground head tossed back as if just getting ready to rear up for a take off! This is just a suggestion! Again you have total control---Hope you are having fun!

Yeah....that will work! Which direction did you want her mane flowing?

Your interpretation of flow is doing well with each of your sculpts. The balance flow has worked so far (counter weight between mane and tail. Sounds good?

Well, I don't know that I have ever seen her mane flowing backwards anywhere except in people's art so I always make it flow forward like in the show, but the reason I asked is because the Luna commission I am about to finish is based on someone's art and the mane is flowing backwards....so I figured I would ask :)

It was a vector by another artist that caught my eye of Luna in Flight. That made me flow the mane rearward.(and the solid blue mane hair!)

hanks! Yeah, this is my first rearing Luna so I wanted it to be really nice. I think she turned out great. Maybe not the best Luna that has been made, but a nice one still.

For all the poses except laying ponies, I make a wire armature (frame) out of floral wire (very cheap) and then I use Sculpey III or any other brand of pre-colored polymer clay. It is a very time consuming process and takes a while to get good but you can have fun while you are learning. I suggest the polymer clay because it never hardens until you cook it so you can keep at it until you are satisfied.

thanks ^^ is there a good brand you get? that wont crack when its cooked?

I've never had them crack unless i use something other than steel wire (some metal expands at low heat). Some people will say different things, but I have used several brands and i really don't see any difference. If you have a Michaels, they even have their own brand and it works fine. The ones I mostly use though are Sculpey III, Premo and Fimo. The biggest problem with them is that some of them are so soft that once you handle them awhile they turn into the texture of peanut butter and are nearly impossible to use. If you get them and they are too soft, flatten it out on a piece or regular paper and lay another piece of paper over the top and set something heavy on it overnight. This will pull out some of the oil that makes it soft and will be more firm and easy to use the next day. It really doesn't matter what brand or color as they are all like that sometimes...I don't know why.

O honestly don't know. I watched it but don't remember her pose in that episode. I just made this from my imagination. I have made so many Luna's I don't need to look at pictures anymore to make her in any pose.
