OC Pony Sculpture by MadPonyScientist OC Pony Sculpture by MadPonyScientist
This is an OC pony commission for :iconltblackcoat:

This one was a bit difficult for me because the commissioner wanted a colt with a muzzle that was a combination of Big Mac and Mr. Cake and looking gleeful...this was all my pea-brain could imagine!! I don't know if I achieved it or not ?

My camera sucks and doesn't pick up the colors well. His body is a very dark gray. His hooves are black and his hair is very dark brown. He is holding a piece of sparkly coal up to his muzzle and has some coal soot on his muzzle. All this can be seen in person :)

(you need'nt worry about the muzzel it was attually a rough guild line so it really is top marks that it does in fact fit the bill perfectly)

tail-great

unsure if i said it but the mane parts RIGHT (perfectly acceptable to overlook) about correct (now i see it i can ask for better details of my own anyway in future so mistakes are more MINE then yours.)

felt locks PERFECT.

Form exelent.

color - even on this old thing (this computers is a bit last gen that i am on at current) can show me the differnt array of (dark yes) colors.

i am pleased sir when time alowes we can disscuss more.

i feel this needs NO MORE work and is bang on even above expectasion in SOME areas (form as example).

i will give a greater review later.

Okay, great. You know, I did read what you said about the mane parting to the right but I figured that maybe you were saying that it was based on my right as i looked at it because I looked at the drawings of him in your gallery and they are on his left side so I just did his mane the same direction as your drawings. Sorry about that but I'm glad you are happy with the rest :)

like i said many if not all of these are basicly in fact my mistakes not yours (but it will come in handy for future use.)

already the "gee, that OC is dark comments are there" (and the "black" comments, ironic as very little is ACTUAL black)

yeah the parted issue is a good one i am going to have to update the ENTIRE OC picture alone (i should enjoy that) you even removed the "nooks" helping the mane feel all that bit more orginal (it really does hit the mark despite some "would like to change in futures's") another commissioner also pointed out the trim issue it has.

Prop (the coal lump) is exactly as requested

the eyes are well painted.

well there is one thing that has been bugging me, it somewhat looks like i am eating the coal (made worse by my soot request XD) in truth is is just a nit pick and i can not actually quite put a hoof on a change that would correct it with out canceling what i wanted so i am willing to utterly drop it. (in fairness this was the bit you found most difficult)

Age - i would argue younger, but it does come off as younger then original so i have no true complaint.

I can only state my satisfaction (and joy) again it has hit most targets exceptionally let alone hit them.

Did i ever state the OCs name as "Coal Shrub"?

I agree that it probably does make a person think he is eating the coal but the only way I could express glee was an open mouth smile. I positioned the coal a few times in his hooves but it either looked like he was bowing down and offering it to somepony or eating it. The only way I think would have portrayed that he was just holding it to his muzzle would be to close his mouth but then he wouldn't have looked gleeful so there was no perfect solution there except that you know what he is really doing. You can't really see in the picture but he has a tongue that you will see when you get him. That glee part actually caused the age difference as well because I tried several times to make him look younger but having the bottom jaw like Mr. Cake and open always made him look older. Mr Cake has such an angular jaw that he just doesn't get the young, rounded and cute look no matter what it seems. Also, typically when you are trying to portray youth, the bottom jaw is always recessed and small compared to the top but Mr. Cake's bottom jaw juts out further than his top jaw so I really don't know how to make him look young so I just did the best I could. The eyes are actually sculpted and you'll see that when you get him. Oh, and the coal lump might look good in the picture but it looks SOOOO much better in person!!! You didn't tell me his name was Coal Shrub but i did read it in one of your drawing description I believe. I'll go update my description now with his name :)

It was no easy reqest you have gone beyond my expectasions.

I saw the tounge truth is I am naturaly atracted to darker colors (a attual obsession if only given 25 words "black" is one that discribes me) so i can see ALL (most maybe) of the differnt colored areas.

orginaly i was thinking "flam" maybe hes jaw whould have been better?

true maybe a less joyful expression like "joy" with a smaller open mouth chould have been effective.

my ref sheets need improveing as is seen from results in another reqest (not nessary yours).

Ether way I am very happy and am deffinity ordering another (but with deylays so I can revise on this much need experince. that and I want "pysical" display (aka it in my hand))

It is true I payed but thank you so much for a exelent dilvery you did not disapoint!

Advanced post retrieval review.

looks coltish at the dead on front.

eyes gloss is a interesting idea but looks odd in some lights.

fingerprints can be seen.

i am greatly pleased and now will definitely order something far more ambiusus (requiring careful planing on my part.)

Wasn't it supposed to look like a colt?

Yeah, I gloss the eyes because a pony's eyes are wet in real life and look glossy.

Fingerprints...they are a problem all of us sculptors are always fighting. They are pretty much unavoidable unless the piece is sanded and then it changes the color.

I am glad you are happy with it!!!!!
