Lyra and Bon Bon custom sculpture single by MadPonyScientist Lyra and Bon Bon custom sculpture single by MadPonyScientist
Lyra and Bon Bon sitting on their bench as seen...everywhere.

EBAY : [link]

This one was a real challenge trying to make the bench very thin like it is on the show but strong enough to support their weight. I think it turned out pretty well and pretty accurate to the show. Some angles in the pictures don't show them as well as they really look. This one turned out very well and in person it is absolutely adorable. Any strange effects you see in the pictures are just strange light reflections. They are very smooth.
It is 5 inches tall and 6.5 inches long. Polymer clay, blah, blah, blah.

It's funny because i remember studying the scene so I could get their facial expressions right. Ask the question in your journal and i'm sure someone will have the answer!

Aww~ Lyra and Bonbon always look great together~ I always like doing scenes taken from the show, it gives it that little bit of 'authenticity-like' feeling that makes them special. That's not to say I don't like doing my own things either~ But I definitely get that feeling from this.

Thanks. I had been wanting to do some more of the minor characters from the show and someone suggested this scene. They were on my list so I figured, what the heck. That bench was the hardest part of the whole thing trying to make it thin like on the show. It is a little wavy but it has sheet metal inside to make it strong enough to support them and the clay had to be thinned out so much that i just couldn't get it completely flat and smooth. Every time I tried it would wear through to the metal underneath.

Interesting use of sheet metal. What kind of thickness was it? I assume it was aluminum. Might be interesting to try it out in the future~

I've always wanted to do more minor/one shot characters but I never have time for them. Maybe after Bronycon I'll beable to do them but I've got alot elst lined up aswell ^^; so I'll have to see where I can squeeze them in~

I was actually an aluminum can. I had to bend it a little for the right shape for the bench which caused a little rippling which didn't help either.

I don't usually have much time either except for my next 2 big crazy projects will have a bunch of them. I am REALLY excited about it. So excited I am almost tempted to tell someone!

AWWWWWW!!!! It's Lyra and Bon Bon! I love it! I can't believe you managed to make that bench support them, well done! While I'm not the biggest fan of Bon Bon, (as a character, not as your sculpture, you got her down perfectly!), I'm a HUGE fan of Lyra thanks to the comic series 'From Another World.' It's so funny to see her on that bench, that was one of the funniest background things EVER!!!!

Thank you so much. It was pretty awkward making her like that because you get used to making ponies a certain way and some poses just don't feel right but she does look cool that way :)

Love it, absolutely love it!
The sculpt is smooth and crisp, the bench looks great and the posing of the ponies is fantactic.
The expressions on Lyra and Bonbon's faces are very well done, giving them a huge sense of character.

Top level pony!

Thank you so much! That bench was the most difficult part about it. I would have loved for the bench to be smooth but it was just so thin that it kept rubbing through when I tried to smooth it because in order to give it strength the is sheet metal inside. Anyway, thanks a bunch!
